Merrickville-Wolford will host the official Finish Line of Ride the Rideau!
This event is a 100 km bike tour to fund cancer research at The Ottawa Hospital.
The “Finish” celebration in our village will have an official Hero’s Welcome: cheering crowds; a locally prepared barbecue; local live entertainment; rider reward medallions; souvenir photos for teams and riders; rider care centre – showers, massage and pampering; bike spa; and a complimentary motor coach back to Ottawa for the weary participants.

Organized and hosted by the Lions Club, Canalfest is our community's annual celebration of the heritage of the Rideau Canal. This year's festivities take place on the August Long Weekend, from Sat., July 31 to Mon., August 2, 2010, at Blockhouse Park. Planned activities this year include: * Fine Craft Show & Sale: featuring handcrafted jewellery, painting, photography, wood carvings, everything from birdhouses to breadboxes, handcrafted natural soaps to homemade honey to delectable dips, and other gourmet foods. * Ongoing Live Musical Entertainment * Voyageur Canoe Races: Villagers and visitors alike can a team and navigate their way down the Canal for some great cash prizes. Prize awards will be $100 for 1st place, $90, for 2nd place, and $60 for 3rd place. A prize of $50 will also be awarded to the best-costumed team. The Merrickville United Church is welcoming back the Manotick Brass on Sun Aug 8 at 3pm. The ensemble will be entertaining on the lawn of the church on the Canal. Ice Cream Sundaes will be available for this fun-filled afternoon of family entertainment. Bring your friends and family and chairs or blankets for your comfort.
Classic Antique Shows organizes its largest indoor/outdoor antique show of the year at the Merrickville Fairgrounds in Merrickville, Ontario. This 18th annual show runs, rain or shine, on Saturday and Sunday August 28-29, 2010 from 10:00am to 5:00pm. The Merrickville Artisan Show will run in conjunction with this event. See two great shows for the price of one! Admission is $6, children under 12 are always free, parking is free. The show has many antique dealers from Ontario and Quebec and every place in between.
